Sabah
is trully blessed with numerous nature based tourism products from
Malaysia's first World Heritage Site, Mt Kinabalu to the world
largest orang utan rehabilitation centre, Sepilok to Sukau and Danum
Valley, the only places in the world to have ten species of primates
within one locality, and not forgetting world renowned dive spots in Sipadan
Island and Layang Layang.
Within this website
you will find a wealth of information on all these eco-destinations
and more in Sabah as well as the full list of MATTA members who are
accredited to the government (with KKKP license).
To the potential
tourists and wholesalers who wish to promote or come to Sabah, it
will be advisable to note that there are different categories of
MATTA membership - namely ticketing, outbound, inbound, any two or
all three of the above. For example, if you are interested to come
to Sabah for a holiday, look for an inbound tour operator. Some
inbound tour operators are specialists while others handle mass
tourism. Some handle back packers while others handle niche markets
such as ecotourism and incentives. This website will make it easier
for you to seek out those tour operators which best suit your needs.
To MATTA members
it is my hope that as guardians and promoters of these
eco-destinations you will zealously guard them and develop them
sustainably and that you will comply to the MATTA Code of Ethics in
your business conduct at all times.
MATTA-Sabah Chapter
website will also now have a members area for discussions and
circulation of news for distribution. All members are therefore
encouraged to capitalise on this new tool to market yourselves on
the internet. This is your website.
Best wishes in the
new millennium.
