Graduated with a Bachelor of Law and Political
Science, Law Department, Housei University, Japan ,1972. From June
1980 to Present, founded Mile Post Consultants Inc. As president of the
company responsible for carrying out major survey projects and designing
marketing strategies for national tourist offices located in Japan. Past
and present clients include the Canadian Tourism Commission; the
Canadian provinces of British Columbia; Air Canada; the Australian
Tourist Commission; regional areas of Australia’s Northern Territory,
Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and New South Wales; island resorts
managed by Australian Airlines; the South African Tourism Board, the
Scandinavian Tourist Board; Christchurch International Airport,
Association of National Tourist Organisation Representatives in Japan,
Tourism Malaysia, Macau Government Tourist Office, Fiji Visitors Bureau
and various Japanese travel wholesalers. 1992-2002 Lecturer for
“Seminar on Japanese Tourism” organised by the ASEAN Centre. 2002
April - Resource person for the “The Asia Pacific Regional Eco-tourism
Conference” organised by APO. 2000 June - Resource person for the
“APO Workshop on Eco-Tourism and Green Productivity” organised by APO.
1998 to Present - Founding member and management committee member of
“Japan Eco-Tourism Society”. Board member from January 2002.
February 1979-June 1980 - Freelance consultant responsible for
marketing, planning and public relations with Hamano Institute.
1975-1979 - Sales Department, Playguide Tours Inc., wholesale travel
company. Initially appointed manager of the planning and purchasing
section and promoted to General Manager of the whole Sales Department,
focusing primarily on Alaska, Canada and the USA as travel destinations.
April 1973 – 1975 - Sales department, Sankyo Travel Agency. In 1974
established the overseas section for the agency. April 1972-April
1973 - Sales Department Tokyo Travel Service
Founding member of Japan Ecotourism Society and currently serving as
Director and Management Committee Member of the Society. Registered
resource person specialising “Area development by tourism” for Region
Development Center.
