The
Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA)
was established in 1974. Over the past 25 years, MATTA has grown from
being a travel agents association with about 30 members to one with
nearly 1500 members.
The year 2001 poise to be another exciting and colourful year for
Sabah's tourism with a total of 80 exciting events lined up for
visitors throughout the year. Extreme sporting events, cultural
extravaganzas and international conventions. Visitors to Sabah
can therefore look forward to a mix of fun and adventure as they enjoy
the State's natural beauty and good tourism facilities.

To further promote and serve the members of MATTA and the
tourism industry of Sabah, MATTA has set up MATTASABAH.COM
with emphasis on providing online news and services for
members as well as integration with
SabahTravelGuide.Com
to provide free and comprehensive travel guide and information
for visitors to Sabah.

Sabah will be
hosting a two days Borneo Ecotourism Conference on April
12-13th in Kota Kinabalu. This is the 3rd international
ecotourism conference to be held in KK.
The conference program was designed with the expertise from
Professor Ross Dowling, Foundation Professor and Head of
Tourism, Edith Cowan University, Perth. There are altogether
eight keynote speakers.

Malaysia will be
organizing the Asia Pacific Ecotourism Conference or
APeco 2002
from 3rd-6th October 2002 in Kota Kinabalu. This conference
will replace the Malaysian Ecotourism Conference which was
originally planned for the same date.
Jointly organized by Malaysian Association of Tours and Travel
Agents, MATTA, Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism, MOCAT
and Sabah Tourism, the four days conference which is expected
to attract some 400 delegates will be part of Malaysia's
program during the International Year of Ecotourism IYE2002.
